REPORTER
Yaremi Farinas

Yaremi Farinas is a reporter at KTUL, the ABC affiliate in Tulsa, OK. She started her journey in Tulsa in March 2014. Farinas is currently reporting for Good Morning Oklahoma, the stations morning show. Working the morning shift gives Farinas the opportunity to go live every half hour and she gets to cover breaking news. Once the morning show wraps up, she shoots, writes and edits stories for the evening newscasts.
Before making her way to Tulsa, she worked as a reporter at WCJB-TV20 in Gainesville, FL. She started her reporting career at TV-20 in March 2012. Farinas is the Marion County reporter and works at a bureau in Ocala. Every day she pitched story ideas, set up interviews, shot, wrote, and edited her stories. Then she presneted the story in the evening newscast. Farinas worked at the bureau by herself and operated the camera and teleprompter when going live from the bureau.
During her time at TV-20, Farinas interviewed several politicians including Governor Rick Scott, Senator Bill Nelson and Representative Charlie Stone.
Farinas was the only TV journalist who interviewed convicted serial rapist Michael Frye while he was in jail awaiting his second trial. She also covered the trial of convicted killer Michael Bargo, who faced the death penalty at 21 years old. Bargo is believed to be the ring leader of a group of teens who beat, shot and burned a 15-year-old boy.
Before reporting at TV-20, Farinas worked at WTVJ in Miami, Fl. There she was a studio-field operator where she learned the production side of the business.
When Farinas is not reporting, she spends her free time with her rescue dog “Roxy,” visiting her family in Naples and Miami, going to the gym, taking dance classes and relaxing by the pool.
Farinas is a South Florida native, born in Miami, Fl. At 13, she moved to Naples, Fl. After attending Palmetto Ridge High School, she started her college career at Florida Gulf Coast University. She soon transferred to Florida International University where she earned a degree in Communications.
